Aimed at linking cycle routes in West Yorkshire to Manchester, the West Yorkshire section of the Calder Valley Cycleway runs from Sowerby Bridge to Warland, on the border with Lancashire. The Caldervale railway line has stations at Walsden, Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Sowerby Bridge and Halifax, giving direct access to Leeds, Bradford, York, Manchester and Blackpool. There are plans to extend the route over the coming years further east along the Calder Valley, to pass through the Kirklees and Wakefield areas. The route consists of a mixture of canal towpath, railpath and minor roads with just the odd bit on main roads. Click here for an online map of the route |
