HEBBLE TRAIL- click on Red Text for links to other pages

A superbly scenic route (especially in summer when the damp and shaded valley bottoms are filled with green) and a rotue with good commuter potential. Starting at Halifax rail station (with the magnificent 18th century Piece or Cloth Hall nearby), you follow the line of the old Hebble Branch Canal. At first you are alongside Hebble Brook before joining the canal towpath proper at Salterhebble Basin. A short way on you meet the Calder & Hebble Canal - still well-used by boats, walkers and cyclists today. Head east here and you will get to Elland whilst going west will get you to Sowerby Bridge where you can join the Calder Valley Cycle Route. A route with great potential!
