Cycling and Public Transport in West Yorkshire

TRANS PENNINE TRAIL - click on Red Text for links to other pages

This coast to coast multi-user trail (cyclists, walkers and horseriders) passes south of Barnsley, with a northern spur from Monk Bretton. The spur enters West Yorkshire by Cold Hiendley, south of Wakefield, where it crosses the West Yorkshire Cycle Route, and proceeds northwards to Leeds via Wakefield, Methley and Woodlesford. Much of the spur is on well-surfaced traffic-free paths and there are few gradients. Passing Walton, Sandal, Stanley, Methley and Woodlesford, the route is suitable for leisure and commuting use alike.
